About me

From a very early age I was fascinated by colour, texture and patterns. I used to play for hours with the button box, mosaic-making toys and pattern-colouring books. I graduated to drawing my own patterns to colour in, and then dabbled with dressmaking and soft furnishings.

Post-school and student-hood, I spent 20 years or so as a scientist, filling my spare time mainly with exercise-based hobbies. I have now evolved a new lifestyle of teaching 'scientific' exercise (Pilates), and finding new, more creative hobbies.

Beading was never a plan, but I bought a few bits and bobs in order to mend broken jewellery. With rising confidence I took the scissors to some old semi-precious necklaces. I'd bought them in South Africa, but scarcely ever wore them because they were too long. What a waste of tigers eye and malachite!

Now I confess I am hooked. I don't have much spare time, but spending an hour or two surrounded by beads, and 'playing' again with colours, textures and patterns gives me immense pleasure. If others can enjoy wearing my creations, then that's the icing on the cake!
